Overview
HKL-1500 Colorimeter for petroleum products conforms to the ASTM D1500 Standard Test Method for ASTM Color of Petroleum Products (ASTM Color Scale). Using a standard light source, a liquid sample is placed in the test container and compared with colored glass disks ranging in value from 0.5 to 0.8. When an exact match is not found and the sample color falls between two standard colors, the higher of the two colors is reported.
Features
Thoroughly clean the colorimetric tube using lens cleaning paper.
Fill a colorimetric tube with distilled water to a depth of at least 50 mm. Then place it on the right side of the covered sample chamber as a reference liquid.
Insert another colorimetric tube into the clear sample to a depth of at least 50 mm, place it on the left side of the covered chamber, and then cover it. If the sample is turbid or opaque, heat it until the turbidity disappears, and then immediately transfer it to the colorimetric tube for measurement.
If the sample color exceeds color number 25 on the standard glass color wheel, dilute the sample with kerosene before measuring the color of the mixture. Dilution ratio: 15 parts sample to 85 parts kerosene (by volume).
