Overview
The HKL-1748 Humidity Cabinet for Rust Protection conforms to ASTM D1748 Standard Test Method for Rust Protection by Metal Preservatives in the Humidity Cabinet. After steel panels are finished to a specific standard, they are dipped into the test oil. When the oil is drained, the panels are hung in a humidity cabinet at 48.9°C (120°F) for a certain number of hours. The oil is considered to have failed or passed the test depending on the size and the number of rust dots found on the test surfaces of the panels.

This product is a benchtop testing instrument that simulates humid environments. It is suitable for industries such as petroleum, chemical, and machinery, as well as universities and research institutions, to test and evaluate the rust-preventive properties of lubricants on metals.
Structures
This product consists primarily of a chamber body, a door, a temperature and humidity control system, a ventilation system, and an electrical control system. The external casing is a high-quality cold-rolled steel plate with a plastic-coated surface coloring; the inside lining is of stainless steel. The slopping top of the interior lining can effectively stop the condensation droplets from falling onto the test samples. The door contains a viewing window so that the tester can check the running of the test. The turntable speed is 1/3 r/min at a steady rate. Starting or stopping the turntable is as simple as flipping a switch on the control panel. Hanging slots on the turntables makes it possible to fasten the test specimens. In fact, the turntable, oil drip tray, and tray bracket can all be taken out for maintenance quite easily. The light switch comes handy when the operator wants to check the test samples. This switch should be turned off when the light is no longer needed. An air flow meter controls the air flow. Opening the valve in the flow meter allows one to set the air flow rate to the desired value.
The electrical control compartment is located beneath the chamber.
This product is integrated with a temperature alarm system that triggers in case of overheating and a heating cutoff protection system. The heat source mainly comprises a heater installed at the bottom of the chamber, and its operation is managed by a dry-bulb temperature controller. Out of two control instruments, one is responsible for controlling the dry-bulb temperature of the working chamber, and the other one cooperates with the dry-bulb thermometer to indicate the wet-bulb temperature. If the chamber (dry-bulb) temperature falls below the set value, the dry-bulb controller will provide a heating signal which will turn on the heaters to raise the temperature. If the chamber temperature goes above the set value, the dry-bulb controller will not output any signal which consequently switches off the heaters and the temperature will start to fall. After repeating several cycles, the temperature finds its balance and gets to the equilibrium level, thereby satisfying the control requirements. Generally, the dry-bulb temperature is kept under program control so that the amount of overshooting is kept to a minimum and the quality of temperature regulation is hardly any less than perfect.
The external compressed air supply must be provided by the user, and the air source must be clean.
