Overview

HKL-2983 Low Temperature Brookfield Viscometer conforms to the ASTM D2983 Standard Test Method for Low-Temperature Viscosity of Automatic Transmission Fluids, Hydraulic Fluids, and Lubricants using a Rotational Viscometer. An oleaginous fluid sample is preheated, allowed to stabilize at room temperature, and then poured to a predetermined depth into a glass cell, and an insulated or uninsulated spindle is inserted through a special stopper and suspended by a clip. Then this entire sample assembly is preheated and allowed to come to room temperature. A reference fluid with a known viscosity value is also prepared. The contained sample is cooled to a predetermined temperature for 16 h and analyzed by a rotational viscometer and, depending on the viscometer model used, the viscosity of the test fluid is read directly from the viscometer or the resultant torque reading is used to calculate the viscosity of the oil at the temperature chosen. The reference fluid is used to verify the test temperature for accuracy purposes.

The sample is placed in a cold bath at the test temperature, connected to the Brookfield spindle, and after selecting the appropriate rotational speed, the low-temperature Brookfield viscosity is measured following a 2 to 16-hour temperature stabilization period.

  2. Compared to similar instruments, this series offers user-friendly operation, intuitive readings, comprehensive display information, high measurement accuracy, stable rotational speed, strong anti-interference capability, and wide voltage compatibility (100~240V, 50/60Hz).
