Overview
HKL-445 Kinematic Viscosity Apparatus conforms the ASTM D445 Standard Test Method for Kinematic Viscosity of Transparent and Opaque Liquids (and Calculation of Dynamic Viscosity). It is used to test the of liquid petroleum products, both transparent and opaque, by measuring the time for a volume of liquid to flow under gravity through a calibrated glass capillary viscometer. The dynamic viscosity, η, can be obtained by multiplying the kinematic viscosity, ν, by the density, ρ, of the liquid. Under certain constant temperature, the range of kinematic viscosities covered by this apparatus method is from 0.2 to 300 000 mm2/s at all temperatures.
Features
The instrument adopts an electric heating tube for heating, with a digital temperature controller for temperature regulation. The sensor is Pt100-based, which is known for its high sensitivity to temperature variations, excellent resolution, robust resistance to interference, small footprint, and very accurate temperature control and measurement. The digital display offers an easy-to-understand reading.
The power supply and bath tank of the instrument are arranged in two stories, one over the other, thus minimizing the total area and facilitating operation.
For stirring, an electric motor is used. It also keeps the temperature drop rate in the bath tank minimum and maintains uniform water temperature. As a result, the operator’s workload is decreased.
The sample temperature control is made more accurate and efficient by the imported digital temperature controller. The temperature display is easy to read, and the control precision is really high, up to ±0.1°C.
The instrument features four wells, enabling four samples to be processed simultaneously. Continuous sample processing is possible without any temperature variation.
The bottom of the bath tank is equipped with a new energy-saving light, enabling the operator to clearly observe the scale readings of the mercury thermometer.
