Overview

HKL-892 Foam Tester for Lubricating Oil conforms to ASTM D892 Standard Test Method for Foaming Characteristics of Lubricating Oils. The sample, maintained at a temperature of 24°C(75℉) is blown with air at a constant rate for 5 min, then allowed to settle for 10 min. The volume of foam is measured at the end of both periods. The test is repeated on a second sample at 93.5°C(200℉), and then, after collapsing the foam, at 24°C(75℉).

Features

  1. The device has two circular borosilicate glass bath chambers that can withstand high temperatures. The high-temperature bath can be rapidly heated, has a large heat capacity, its temperature is very stable, and it provides an intuitive display. The low-temperature bath is based on immersion cooling and in addition to this, it has a built-in stirrer which makes it possible to have an accurate and uniform low-temperature constant temperature control.

  2. The instrument is installed with an air filtration and adsorption apparatus that effectively extracts moisture, dust, and other air contaminants to produce dry and clean air conditions.

  3. Gas flow control is performed using very accurate flow meters combined with needle valves, which makes it possible to change the flow rates independently. The flow rate can be changed and controlled in the range of 0–104 ml/min. The inside is tightly arranged, so work and watching is quite easy.

  4. The temperature control system uses a Japanese Fuji digital temperature controller, while a stainless steel-encapsulated high-precision sensor is used for temperature measurement. The system is characterized by the following advantages: quick response, high resolution, robust anti-interference capability, accurate temperature control, and long service life. The temperature control actuator is equipped with a non-contact solid-state relay that makes it very responsive and at the same time it completely removes spark formation at contact points, which makes the laboratory environment much safer. The temperature control range is suitable for a high-precision automatic control of the temperature at a set point anywhere between 0 and 95°C.

  5. Each constant temperature water bath is fitted with two measuring cylinders to allow running parallel tests at the same time or separate individual tests.

  6. The instrument is equipped with a special immersion cooling unit, powered by an imported Danfoss compressor that is famous for its long service life and low noise. For heat exchange, the immersion cooling unit utilizes an axial fan, which makes the use of cooling water unnecessary and, therefore, the energy consumption and operational costs are reduced significantly.
