Overview
This apparatus conforms to the EN14112 Fat and oil derivatives —Fatty Acid Methyl Esters (FAME)—Determination of oxidation stability (accelerated oxidation test). A stream of purified(dried) air is passed through the sample which has been heated to the target temperature which is 110°C in the usual application of the method. Volatile compounds are formed during the oxidation process. They are passed, together with the air, into a flask containing demineralized or distilled water, and equipped with a conductivity electrode. The electrode is connected to a measuring and recording device. It indicates the end of the induction period by rapid increase of the conductivity due to the dissociation of volatile carboxylic acids produced during the oxidation process and absorbed in the water.
Features
Structural Features: This product is made with an integrated design and comes with a full set of computer and inkjet printer systems. Components: 1) Sample Section: Comes with an aluminum block-integrated heating furnace, high borosilicate glass sample beakers, high borosilicate glass reactors, PT100 temperature sensors, high-precision glass electrodes, and so on. 2) Electrical Control Section: Includes power switches and heating furnace, both fixed on the controller casing, while the rest of the electrical parts are kept inside for a compact structure and easy operation. 3) Detection Section: PT100 temperature sensors and high precision glass electrodes.
The instrument uses stainless steel electric heating rods as heating elements, with the 220V power supply being controlled by a solid-state relay. Since a solid-state relay has no mechanical contacts, it does not produce sparking during operation, and this guarantees the safety of using the instrument. Besides, it is small, light, and gives stable and reliable performance.
Temperature control is the main feature of this product that allows for automatic temperature regulation. Temperature changes are detected by a Pt100 sensor, which is very sensitive and trustworthy, giving quick and exact temperature feedback. The output of the solid-state relay is controlled by the computer, which checks continuously that regulation is safe and exact. Besides that, the system automatically regulates the gas flow rates, with each unit capable of independently measuring the conductivity of eight sample sets simultaneously.
The whole testing process is computer-controlled, and the process curves, temperatures, working time, and other essential parameters are shown and saved in real-time.
