Overview

HKL-87 Petroleum Wax Melting Point Apparatus (Cooling Curve Method) conforms to ASTM D87 Standard Test Method for Melting Point of Petroleum Wax (Cooling Curve). A specimen of molten wax in a test tube fitted with a thermometer or equivalent temperature measuring device is placed in an air bath, which in turn is surrounded by a water bath held at 16 to 28°C (60 to 80). As the molten wax cools, periodic readings of its temperature are taken. When solidification of the wax occurs the rate of temperature change decreases, yielding a plateau in the cooling curve. The temperature at that point is recorded as the melting point of the sample.

Features

  1. The cooling bath has two wells which allow for separate temperature control. With compressor refrigeration, each well’s temperature can be set individually without affecting the other, making operation easy and comfortable.

  2. Having a compressor refrigeration and fan-assisted air cooling, the system starts to cool immediately after the refrigeration switch is turned on.

  3. The device is equipped with an imported digital temperature controller that regulates temperature with high precision and allows the operator to adjust the setpoint freely within the effective cooling temperature range. The sensor, which is a Pt100, can detect temperature sensitively and provides high resolution while maintaining excellent anti-interference ability and accurate temperature control.

  4. The compressor of this instrument is very compact and lightweight. It also runs quite stably without any vibration. In short, it is perfect for laboratory use.

  5. It is fitted with a copper cooling chamber that has powerful cooling ability, can handle two samples at the same time, and is capable of continuous sample testing.
