Overview

HKL-4530 Micro Carbon Residue Apparatus conforms to theASTM D4530 Standard Test Method for Determination of Carbon Residue (Micro Method). A small sample of the material is first weighed, then put into a glass container where it is carefully heated up to 500°C in an inert nitrogen atmosphere. During the heating, the sample participates in coking reactions, and the gases that are formed are carried away by the nitrogen stream. The carbonaceous residue left after the procedure is expressed as the percentage of the initial sample as the carbon residue.

Features

  1. This instrument adopts a single-chip microcomputer for measurement and control. It is in accordance with ASTM D4530 standard and it features blue-screen digital dot matrix display powered by advanced technology. Also, the mainboard is provided with a communication interface.

  2. The instrument has the human-machine dialogue fully interactive and it is controlled via two sets of passwords. One set is for controlling persons to only changing parameters (it is not preset, it is to be set by the user) to prevent inexperienced personnel from changing experimental data. The other set restricts the total number of tests to be done, acts as a reminder for timely maintenance. Such passwords are administered by technical personnel to assure data accuracy.

  3. The device has complete programmable command to control the whole heating operation. A sophisticated 18-bit data line provides an exact heating rate, and a temperature hysteresis function was created to keep the temperature not exceeding 502°C during the manipulation, settling at no less than 498°C after the set temperature being achieved. The speed of heating and the actual temperature are shown simultaneously so that one can discern instrument states such as purge, heating, or constant temperature just by looking at the screen.

  4. The instrument adopts heating rods from overseas to ensure long service life and it is quite easy to clean the rods. Reasonably, only one rod needs to be changed or removed and it takes about 10 minutes, so you cannot be bothered by sending the unit back to the manufacturer for repair. This is the solution for the problem when the whole combustion core needed to be changed in the past.

  5. The combustion chamber is located at the front of the instrument and the collection bottle for the waste liquid is right below it. This design takes away the trouble of the equipment that has the collection bottle at the bottom and replacement is very difficult.
