Overview
This apparatus is designed for the determination of trace elements (As, Se, Sb, Bi, Sn, Pb, Te, Ge, Cd, Hg) using Hydride Generation Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (HAAS) and is compatible with all models of atomic absorption spectrometers.
Features
1. High sensitivity: This model operates as a flow-injection hydride generator and needs very little sample volume (2-2.5 mL per determination). It provides very good sensitivity and limits of detection. (Some examples of measurement data are shown below.)

2. High stability: Factory specified RSD (Relative Standard Deviation, or coefficient of variation) is less than 3% (and can actually be even less than 1.5%). This is based on 11 measurements of arsenic with absorbance values between 0.2 and 0.5.
3. Low detection limit: Based on three times the standard deviation, the low detection limit value is around two-thirds of the sensitivity value (in ng/mL), which is sufficient to measure concentrations down to 0.01–0.1 ppm in samples.
4. High testing efficiency: A single measurement can be done in less than 30 seconds, not counting the time for sample pretreatment.
5. Optimized operating conditions: Actually, no complicated optimization is necessary apart from adjusting the carrier gas flow. Reagent usage (per run): 2–3 mL of sample (including rinsing; can be adapted for individual user requirements, the minimum is 0.6 mL), 4–6 mL of carrier liquid, and 1–1.5 mL of potassium borohydride.
6. Highly automated system: With only one press on the start button, the whole sequence of sample injection, hydride generation, reading (a host unit with remote automatic reading capability is necessary), and rinsing is done automatically.
7. Great adaptability: It is compatible with the latest and old types of atomic absorption spectrophotometers. A measurement can be obtained by peak height, or one can simply see peak height and record it with a chart recorder. Besides, it can also work with Zeeman-effect host units.
8. Unlimited continuous operation time: Standard generators will accumulate condensate in the gas outlet tube making it necessary for the system to be shut down in order to clear the tube and prevent liquid from entering the absorption tube and splashing onto the lens. This type of generator will not have that problem and will offer continuous operation. No desiccant is required.
9. Lightweight and compact: Net weight is approximately 2 kg; dimensions are 150 mm (L) x 125 mm (W) x 205 mm (H).

Advantages
1. Uses carrier gas pressure as the driving force; installs unique pneumatic elements to perform automated operations such as accurate volumetric sampling, continuous-flow delivering, rinsing and timing-programming control.
2. Very efficiently designed electrothermal quartz absorption tube: It incorporates a heating wire, which has been specially processed and tightly, uniformly wound around the quartz tube without any risk of short circuit; providing a stable temperature, easy installation/removal and positioning, and also being the only absorption tube that can be accommodated between the magnet poles of Zeeman-effect main units. Service life is about 500 hours.
3. Typical application of high-performance hollow cathode lamps: For the eight elements that form hydrides, high-performance hollow cathode lamps with strong emission lines and high sensitivity are the offer. When greatly enhancing the emission intensity, they also enable the use of very wide spectral bandwidths (1-2 nm) without losing sensitivity. This makes arsenic and selenium, which are usually considered as weak-emission elements, to be significantly changed. Lead analysis is possible at the wavelength of 217.0 nm with the sensitivity level of arsenic. The main unit serves as power source; an external power supply is not necessary.
