Overview

HKL-999.11 AAS for Copper, Lead and Cadmium content in grains conforms to the AOAC Official Method 999.11 Determination of Lead, Cadmium, Copper, Iron, and Zinc in Foods — Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry after Dry Ashing. It is applicable to the determination of lead, cadmium, zinc, copper, and iron in food by dry ashing and flame atomic absorption spectrometry (GFAAS), flame and graphite furnace procedures.

After drying, the sample was ashed at a specific temperature under conditions of slow heating. An appropriate amount of hydrochloric acid was added, and the solution was evaporated to dryness. The residue was dissolved in nitric acid, and the analytes were then determined using flame atomic absorption spectrometry and graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry.
